- Rep. Gary Day (R-Lehigh/Berks) expressed disappointment with a plan to develop more warehouses in the Trexlertown area. He issued the following statement:
“This plan is inconsistent with the regional plan, the township zoning and the needs of the residents and businesses in the area. I will oppose all state funding for a project that will have such a severe impact on our communities.
“I am urging the supervisors of Upper Macungie Township to strongly oppose this development. The zoning hearing board members should grant no waivers that deviate from zoning laws.
“Regional planning commissioners should require a full impact assessment of all intersections and county commissioners should actively lead and make decisions that best support our citizens. We need public officials who understand the planning process and go over and above to protect the public from the impact of overdevelopment that leads to further transportation issues.”
The proposed plan would take up about 61 acres of land. The largest building would be 1.23 million square feet, the second building would be 926,250 square feet and the smallest would be 435,600 square feet.
