KUTZTOWN – As a way to raise awareness about the various programs and services available to senior citizens, their families and caregivers, Rep. Gary Day (R-Lehigh/Berks) invites them to attend three upcoming Senior Fairs in Lehigh and Berks counties.

“Our Senior Fairs attract hundreds of people each year to learn more about services and programs available in their own communities and to receive a variety of free health screenings,” Day said. “Even if seniors have been to either of our Senior Fairs in the past, I encourage them to come out, because we’re always offering new exhibitors.”

The first is designed for senior citizens of North Whitehall Township for its annual Senior Citizens Day on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville. Day and Sen. Pat Browne (R-Lehigh) will have tables and information about state programs and services at this event. Seniors can register by downloading the form at under “North Whitehall News - Senior Citizen Day.”

The second is Day’s annual Senior Fair on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Kutztown Fire Company, located at 310 Noble St. in Kutztown. The fair will start at 10 a.m. and last until 1 p.m.

A third fair in Upper Macungie Township will be held jointly with Sen. Browne on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Country Meadows of Allentown, Building 4, located at 410 North Krocks Road, Allentown. That fair will also take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In addition to information tables and representatives from local, state and federal governments, as well as private agencies, both events will include door prizes and free refreshments.

There is no charge to attend, and participants do not need to register in advance for the October events.

Of particular interest, free flu shots will be provided by Lehigh Valley Health Network, as well as free blood pressure checks.

For more information about the events, call Day’s district office at 610-760-7082.
