Day Announces Multimodal Project to Improve Safety, Mobility, Local Economies in Upper Macungie Township
HARRISBURG – Rep. Gary W. Day (R-Lehigh/Berks) announces funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund for Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County.

“These funds, provided by the state Department of Transportation through its Multimodal Transportation Fund, offer our community opportunities to increase pedestrian safety,” says Day. “Upper Macungie Township’s projects will provide for improvements to our roadways and pedestrian crosswalks. PennDOT investments like this one increase the overall safety within our communities.”

Upper Macungie Township has received more than $140,000 for improvements to the intersection’s southbound right lane, pedestrian crosswalks and traffic signal to improve the pedestrian crosswalk safety and enhance the use of a transportation asset through adaptive signals.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) evaluated the applications and made selections based on criteria such as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency and operational sustainability.
