The 96th annual Pennsylvania Farm Show is underway this week in Harrisburg. The event is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in America, with 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors under roof in Farm Show complex. Rep. Rep. Day Comments on Policy Committee Hearing on Job Creation - 8/24/2011
What state government can do to improve Pennsylvania’s business climate and create more jobs was the topic of a public hearing held this week in the state capitol. Rep. Rep. Gary Day Comments on House Passage of Budget - 6/29/2011
The Pennsylvania House has passed a $27.15 billion spending plan, completing the budget before the constitutional deadline of June 30. The budget includes no tax increases, and reduces overall spending from the previous year. Rep. Rep. Day’s Bill to Set Fees for a License to Carry a Firearm at $25 Moves Forward in the PA House - 4/27/2011
Legislation that sets the maximum fee which may be charged for a license to carry a firearm in Pennsylvania at no more than $25 was approved this week by the House Judiciary Committee in Harrisburg. Sponsor of the bill, Rep. Gary Day (R-Berks & Lehigh) said his legislation will encourage sheriffs who are charged with issuing these licenses to keep the fees affordable for Pennsylvania citizens. Castle Doctrine legislation that would strengthen the right of Pennsylvania citizens to use deadly force if necessary in self defense was approved Tuesday in the state House. Rep. Gary Day (R-Berks & Lehigh) said this bill makes clear that law abiding citizens have the right to protect themselves and their families without any legal duty to retreat from confrontations. Rep. Gary Day Comments on Gov. Corbett's Inauguration - 1/18/2011
Republican Tom Corbett was sworn in Tuesday at the state capitol as Pennsylvania's 46th governor. The outdoor ceremony at the state Capitol was attended by more than 1,000 supporters who were undeterred by the winter weather and the oath of office was administered by chief justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Ronald Castille. Many state lawmakers also attended the ceremony and voiced their opinions on the governor’s inaugural address and how they feel about the agenda he laid out for Pennsylvania state government.
